watercoloring backgrounds

For this I used some Distress ink pads to create a watercolor background. I have a jar (like a mason jar) that holds paint brushes, I dont know the brand just some semi decent ones I got at my local craft store, I put some water in the jar and sread som ink directly on the craft sheet. By taking a wet paint brush and wetting the top of your cardstock the dipping the brush back in the water and then into the ink on the craft sheet you can layer your colors on. The dryer your paint brush the deeper your color will be. I wanted the purple as a main color so with the black I used a skinnier brush.

The camera image and Happy Birthday sentiment are both stamped with VersaMark ink and embossed with white embossing powder. I did the camera embossing before inking the background and the sentiment after. I cant tell a difference so either works well.
